| NEW RESOURCE - 22 November 2003 |
| Database nears completion TOP |
 |
For many finding
the right piece of specialist equipment is key to being able
to find the right piece of equipment to meet specialist needs.
We are meeting that need by launching a multi sport database,
which will make it easier for disabled adventurers to find
the equipment of their choice. This project is part of the
strategic partnership with Sheffield
Hallam University’s Department of Sports Engineering.
A full database will be available at Explore – the annual
expedition planning seminar at the Royal
Geographical Society 22nd 23rd November in London. If
you would like to be involved or have any information which
you would like to help us share with other adventurers then
contact info@equaladventure.co.uk. |

| Centre Access Guide TOP |
 |
In another
proactive step we have developed a draft guide for use by
outdoor and field centres, the Centre Access Guide (CAG) aims
to make it possible for more outdoor and field centres to
be accessible to all. The CAG is timely as it will make it
possible for centres to meet the needs of the disability discrimination
act as the final part comes into force in October 2004. The
project has been driven by ourselves with the support of the
Institute for Outdoor Learning and the encouragement of Expedition
and Fieldwork division staff at the Royal Geographical Society
(with IBG)

The project will involve disabled people
in trials and development and hopes to place the designs with
a major manufacturer in Scotland in the next two years. If
