Overview

As part of our commitment to the inclusion and development of opportunities for disabled people in outdoor activity and active lifestyles we have developed a range of people-centred Disability Equity Training courses. Our courses share experiences and knowledge generated from our development work. The courses include a tailored Foundation Module and a range of flexible disciplinespecific modules. Courses tackle issues for managers and practitioners in all aspects of service provision, including creating the inclusive environment, equipment and good practice. Active links with industry and the combined experiences of our training team provide a meaningful foundation from which to share inclusive practices. We use this experience and in-depth understanding of legislative issues to provide courses that break down what can appear to be hard to handle issues.

The Equal Adventure Training Programme

The three key areas on which the programme focuses are Practice, Procedure and Policy; otherwise translated as what you do, how you do it and why you do it. The aim of the Training Programme is to enable your organisation to adopt a fully inclusive working practice, providing services and resources which ensure you cater for the needs of disabled people in a functional and cohesive manner. The modular approach offers flexibility and depth, ensuring best-fit for your organisation’s resources and staff time. The Foundation Module addresses issues of diversity and inclusion in an experiential and broad manner and provides you and your organisation with a common language and understanding from which to grow.

Why Equal Adventure Training (EAT)?

The strength of the EAT team is in our wealth of experiences and knowledge, gained from developing and field testing resources in the outdoor adventure and expedition environments. These demanding, diverse environments create an ideal testing ground for practices and procedures that can be translated into ‘everyday’ situations. EAT’s development projects have raised the standard in inclusive outdoor adventure at a national level. We encourage you, your staff and your organisation to share in our unique and positive legacy, and to share in our proactive, multi-disciplinary approach. Together we can create access solutions that are realistic and sustainable.
